Skills Connect for Immigrants Program

B.C. has a growing economy and an expanding job market employers and communities are looking for workers in many different areas. The Government of British Columbia understands that you have the skills, qualifications and experience we need and is working with Back in Motion to deliver this exciting program.

The Skills Connect for Immigrants Program can help you find that perfect employment fit. Our program can help you with an individual approach, tailored to meet your needs.

 

Program Objectives

The primary objective is to help immigrants secure jobs that utilize their
pre-landing skills, knowledge, and experience in areas that complement

B.C.s growing economy.

 

Eligibility Criteria

This program is offered to immigrants that meet the following criteria:

  • You became a permanent resident of Canada within the last 5 years, and;
  • You are unemployed or underemployed; and
  • Have an intermediate to advanced level of English language proficiency

Program Delivery

If you are eligible, we will:


  • Assess your skills, qualifications and experiences;
  • Provide targeted career counselling and career planning services;
  • Improve your language skills and help to upgrade other skills; and
  • Provide hands-on workplace experience through mentoring and other innovative approaches.

Program Funding

This program is part of WelcomeBC, a suite of programs funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia. WelcomeBC helps newcomers settle, integrate and find employment in their new communities.
