Customized Employment Program

What is Customized Employment?

Customized Employment (CE) is a Ministry funded Employment Program for persons
with disabilities that maximizes the jobseeker’s unique strengths, abilities, interests and needs. The program is provided by Back in Motion Rehab Inc. in partnership with Pacific Community Resources Services (PCRS).

Our Four Step Process

Step 1: Referral & Assessment

The jobseeker can be referred or self referred to Back in Motion to be assessed
by an Employment Specialist to determine program eligibility and suitability.

Step 2: Discovery

Discovery is the process used to understand the jobseeker’s unique skills, contributions, preferences, and ideal working conditions. Observation of the individual in a variety of natural situations and consultation with family members and other support people such as Life Skills Coaches, school teachers and healthcare professionals provides the feedback needed to create a vision of the ideal work tasks and conditions.

Step 3: Job Development

Paid employment is achieved by shaping the relationship between the job
seeker and an employer in ways that meet the needs of both, creating a match and developing a unique job description. The employer or the self-employment business is identified and chosen with the help of the job seeker, and leads are identified through brainstorming, research and networking.

Step 4: Supports

Natural supports are identified and engaged on the job and off, and long-term
follow-up support with employment is provided. The emphasis is on developing
strategies that promote independence and long term job success.
