Interdisciplinary Assessment
The
Interdisciplinary Assessment is a multi-disciplinary evaluation to:
- Determine or confirm medical and/or psychological diagnosis
- Determine level of impairment, functional limitations and
disability
- Identify factors (i.e., medical, psychological,
psychosocial, physical and functional) that may have contributed
to the emergence and maintenance of disability)
The
comprehensive assessment report includes the following:
- Detailed file review
- Description of subjective symptoms
- Relevant objective findings
- Explanation of inconsistencies observed
- Review of current medications and recommendations to optimize
pain management
- Explanation of the causes of impairment
- Identification of potential discrepancies between level of
impairment and disability
- Identification of limitations and restrictions
- Prognosis with timelines for recovery, treatment recommendations
and expected outcomes
- Identification of any other issues that are clinically relevant
Clinicians
on the assessment team may include a medical doctor, psychologist,
physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and kinesiologist. Clinicians
will address those questions or issues that pertain to their discipline
in their individual reports. A summary report is also provided, unless
requested otherwise.
