The Occupational Rehabilitation 1 Program (OR1) is an active rehabilitation program focused on return to work through physical and functional conditioning, education, and return-to-work-support. Psychological referrals are made by WorkSafeBC to help workers who may have psychological issues associated with their injuries or workplace trauma. These services are provided by registered psychologists and largely fall into two categories: treatment and assessment. Psychological treatment referrals are for workers who would benefit from therapy over a prescribed time-period. Psychologists create a treatment plan with goals to guide the therapy. Assessments services are done with a “medical-legal” focus, helping to clarify symptom causality and diagnoses. Certain assessments also help to assess permanent impairment arising from workplace injuries or trauma.

Return to Work Support Services (RTWSS) is for injured workers who do not require a structured treatment program but would benefit from a supported return to work. The goal of this service is to return injured workers to their pre-injury duties at the work place. While at Back in Motion RTWSS is usually provided by an occupational therapist, as per the WorkSafeBC website, this service may also be provided by a physiotherapist or a kinesiologist experienced in the performance of return to work services and job site visits.
Return to Work Support Services provides the following three components, each available as a stand alone service or in any combination:
